In 1980, I took my first paid detailing job. For $30, I hand cleaned,
buffed, and waxed the exterior along with detailing the interior of a
1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car. That was a big car and a lot of work
for that amount of money. I spent 3 days getting the car completely
detailed to my perfectionist standard. Thirty years later, automobiles
and detailing have come a long way. Paint now comes standard with clear
coat. Some manufacturers are even using ceramic clear coat. Detailing
compounds are now safer and easier to use but require more knowledge of
the paint surface to matchup the right combination of products.
While
automobiles, paint surfaces, detailing products, and detailing
tools/techniques have changed significantly, my love for detailing cars
